A sliding door is practical and stylish, but at the same time it is a vulnerable spot in the security of your home. When the lock of your sliding door is worn, doesn’t close properly or gets stuck, it becomes a real risk. Burglars know that a weak sliding door lock is often the easiest way into your home.

Slotenmaker Lucas helps you replace, repair or upgrade any type of sliding door lock — from standard garden door locks to heavy-duty multipoint locks for large sliding patio doors. You can count on more than ten years of experience, neat workmanship and advice tailored to your home.

Why a good sliding door lock matters

A sliding door brings in a lot of light and connects indoors with outdoors, but its security is often underestimated. A basic sliding door lock offers little resistance against forcing or prying. Modern locks with a multipoint mechanism or anti-pull / anti-drill protection offer much higher protection against burglary.

Besides safety, comfort also plays a role: a worn lock makes the door harder to slide or prevents it from closing properly, which can cause draughts or heat loss. A new lock improves not only security, but also the seal and lifespan of your sliding door.

When to replace your sliding door lock

It’s time to replace your sliding door lock if you notice one of the following signs:

  • 🔑 The key turns stiffly or gets stuck
  • 🚪 The door does not fully lock
  • ⚙️ The locking bar or hook no longer engages properly
  • 🔧 The lock is damaged or outdated
  • ⚠️ The door can be pushed or slid open too easily
  • 🛡️ There has been an attempted break-in or you simply want to upgrade the lock

In all these cases, Slotenmaker Lucas provides a new, properly adjusted lock so your sliding door works smoothly and securely again.

Expert installation of every type of sliding door lock

Every sliding door is different. Depending on the material (wood, aluminium or PVC) and the construction, our locksmith chooses the best solution. We work with, among others:

1. Simple sliding door locks

Classic locking systems for small sliding doors or internal sliders. Affordable and quick to replace.

2. Multipoint locks

Locks that secure the door at several points. Ideal for large sliding patio doors and garden doors that need extra security.

3. Mortise (inset) sliding door locks

Neatly integrated into the door profile for a clean finish and better insulation.

4. Surface-mounted sliding door locks

Suitable for older models or where a mortise lock is not technically possible. Strong, practical and easy to maintain.

Our locksmiths install and replace all common brands and models and provide expert advice on the right choice for your door.

Security advice for your sliding door

We often see that front doors are well secured, while sliding doors at the garden side are weaker. That’s why we always check whether additional security is possible, such as:

  • 🛡️ Anti-lift devices
  • 🔒 Security bars or security pins
  • 🔑 Cylinders with anti-drill / anti-pull protection
  • Locks tested to PKVW or SKG standards (where applicable)

This way you don’t just get a new lock, but also the reassurance that your sliding door meets modern security standards.

Our process

  1. Get in touch
In emergencies we share the price first, before a locksmith comes out — usually within 20–30 minutes. We are available 24/7!
  2. Quote
We prepare a quote after we’ve identified the problem and the best solution. Sometimes a visit from a locksmith is needed to assess this on site.
  3. Scheduling the job
Once you agree with the quote, we schedule a suitable time to carry out the work. You receive a confirmation of the appointment.
  4. Intervention
The technician comes on site and carries out the necessary work. The duration depends on the service: for example around 5 minutes for a simple door opening and about 40 minutes for installing a new lock.
  5. Payment
After the work, you pay on site by card or in cash. The price is as stated in the quote — no surprises. An invoice can be provided afterwards if required.
